*Sold Out* Antique Furniture Restoration Course 2021 (August)
This practical, informative and enjoyable five day course is designed to give you the opportunity to learn traditional restoration techniques from an expert. You will spend each day in the tutors own workshop where specific problems and techniques will be addressed, including the all important question ‘Is it worth repairing?’. Working at your own pace, the course is suitable for all levels, including beginners, although some basic tool skills are an advantage. 
Students are asked to bring one or two small pieces of furniture to work on during the week. Please note that due to the time restraints of the course, some projects may need to be completed at home; any further work required will of course be discussed by the tutor with you before you leave.
Areas covered will include:
Correct dismantling of furniture
Cleaning and repair of joints
Tools and their uses
Repair of old surfaces and veneers
Glues and gluing methods
Re-assembly methods, including cramps and their uses
Sympathetic cleaning of old surfaces
Polishes and waxes
Metal work, including handles, hinges etc.
The tuition will include one to one time, group discussions and demonstrations of techniques. Topics covered will, to some extent, be dependant on pieces brought in by students.

What’s included:
All tools and materials will be provided, although you are welcome to bring any hand tools of your own to use (please don’t bring any power tools). Some materials may incur an extra charge, e.g. leathers, handles, etc. There will be the opportunity to purchase wax and cleaner made to our own secret recipes. 
All refreshments and a light lunch on each day are included. Please advise of any dietary requirements.
All tuition is carried out by Mark Coray.
The course is restricted to a maximum of six students to allow for plenty of one to one teaching time.
The workshop will be open from 9am each morning, with formal tuition from 9.30am  till 5.30pm, and lunch from approx 1-2pm. 
Fees and payment methods:
£395  ( no. VAT)  for five days
A deposit of £100 is required at the time of booking to secure a place, with the balance of £295 paid in full two weeks before the commencement of the course (payment method will be sent with an invoice). Any extra materials costs will be discussed and payed for as required during the course.
